Salvia officinalis Seeds (Broadleaf Sage)
Broadleaf Sage (Salvia officinalis) is a popular perennial herb known for its aromatic properties. It typically grows up to 2 feet tall with woody stems and grey-green leaves. Also called garden sage or common sage, it has velvety textured leaves that are broad and ovate in shape. The plant produces small purple or blue flowers in summer. Broadleaf Sage can be grown in USDA hardiness zones 5-9 and thrives best in full sun with well-drained soil. It can be propagated through Salvia officinalis seeds, which are widely available for purchase. This versatile herb is frequently used in culinary and medicinal applications.

Germinating Broadleaf Sage Flower Seeds
To germinate Salvia officinalis, place the seeds on a moist paper towel, fold it over to cover the seeds, put it in a sealed plastic bag, and store it in a warm spot for 2-3 weeks until they sprout.
We source all of our Salvia officinalis seeds from a small greenhouse facility based in southeastern Maine and store them in a dark, temperature-controlled environment before shipment. You’ll find that our fresh Broadleaf Sage seeds are much easier to germinate than the mass-produced packets of flower seeds found in stores! If you have any trouble growing Broadleaf Sage seeds, we’re happy to send you additional gardening tips. In the (unlikely) event that your Salvia officinalis seeds do not germinate at all, we’ll give you a full refund, no questions asked.
