Iris virginica Seeds (Southern Blueflag Iris)
The Southern Blueflag Iris, scientifically known as Iris virginica, is a perennial plant species native to wetlands and marshes of North America. It features tall stems reaching around 3 feet in height and produces showy blue-violet flowers with prominent yellow or white markings. Also called Virginia iris or southern iris, it can be grown in USDA hardiness zones 4 to 9, favoring full sun to partial shade conditions. The plant spreads through rhizomes and can be propagated through Iris virginica seeds, which have a hard exterior requiring scarification or stratification for successful germination.
