Upright Sedge, also known as Carex stricta, is a common species of sedge found in various regions of North America. It is a perennial plant with a distinctive appearance featuring erect green stems that can grow up to 3 feet tall. The plant forms dense clumps and produces long, narrow leaves with a sharp edge. Upright Sedge blooms in late spring to early summer, producing small brown flowers in spikelets. It is a hardy plant that thrives in moist to wet soil conditions and can grow in USDA hardiness zones 3 to 9. Carex stricta seeds are available for propagation.
