Huang Qi, scientifically known as Astragalus membranaceus, is a perennial herbaceous plant native to China and Mongolia. It is commonly referred to as “Milk Vetch” or “Chinese Astragalus.” It features erect stems with compound leaves divided into small, elliptical leaflets, and clusters of yellowish flowers. This medicinal plant has been traditionally used in herbal remedies for its immune-boosting properties. Mature plants can reach a height of 24-36 inches (60-90 cm) and require well-drained soil. Huang Qi is hardy in USDA zones 3-9. To grow this plant, one can acquire Astragalus membranaceus seeds and follow proper cultivation methods.
