Anemone virginiana Seeds (Thimbleweed)

Thimbleweed, also known as Anemone virginiana, is a perennial plant species found in eastern North America. It is characterized by erect stems growing up to three feet tall and bearing numerous white flowers with yellow centers. The plant gets its name from its unique seed head, resembling tiny thimbles. Thimbleweed can thrive in USDA hardiness zones 4 to 9. As for cultivation, it prefers partial shade and well-drained soil. Anemone virginiana seeds can be planted in the spring or fall, ideally with a light layer of soil covering them, to encourage germination.

Germinating Thimbleweed Flower Seeds

To germinate Anemone virginiana seeds, sow them in a moist, well-drained soil in a location with partially shaded to full sun exposure. Stratify the seeds by refrigerating them for 6-8 weeks prior to planting.
