Amorpha nana Seeds (Dwarf Indigo)
Dwarf Indigo (Amorpha nana), also known as Fragrant False Indigo, is a small, deciduous shrub native to the central and eastern United States. It reaches a compact size of 12-18 inches in height and spreads up to 2-3 feet wide. Its foliage consists of pinnate, bluish-green leaves with a glossy texture. In late spring to early summer, it produces stunning spikes of purple-blue flowers that attract pollinators. Dwarf Indigo prefers full sun, well-drained soil, and is tolerant of drought conditions. It is hardy in USDA hardiness zones 4-9. Amorpha nana seeds can be purchased to grow this beautiful shrub.

Germinating Dwarf Indigo Flower Seeds
To germinate Amorpha nana, scarify the seeds by gently scraping or sanding the hard outer coat, then soak them in warm water overnight. Sow the seeds in a well-draining potting mix, cover lightly with soil, and keep them consistently moist in a warm, sunny area.
We source all of our Amorpha nana seeds from a small greenhouse facility based in southeastern Maine and store them in a dark, temperature-controlled environment before shipment. You’ll find that our fresh Dwarf Indigo seeds are much easier to germinate than the mass-produced packets of flower seeds found in stores! If you have any trouble growing Dwarf Indigo seeds, we’re happy to send you additional gardening tips.
