The Grecian Windflower, scientifically known as Anemone blanda, is a vibrant early spring bloomer. It features delicate, daisy-like flowers with bright petals in shades of white, pink, purple, or blue, radiating around a bright yellow center. Commonly referred to as Balkan anemone or winter windflower, it grows from corms and reaches a height of around 6-8 inches. Grecian Windflowers are hardy perennials that thrive in USDA hardiness zones 4 to 8. Germinating Grecian Windflower Flower Seeds
To germinate Anemone blanda, soak the seeds in warm water for 24 hours to soften their outer coating. Sow the seeds in well-draining soil, ensuring they’re barely covered. Keep the soil moist and maintain a temperature of 60-68°F (15-20°C) until germination occurs in 2-4 weeks.
We source all of our Anemone blanda seeds from a small greenhouse facility based in southeastern Maine and store them in a dark, temperature-controlled environment before shipment. You’ll find that our fresh Grecian Windflower seeds are much easier to germinate than the mass-produced packets of flower seeds found in stores! If you have any trouble growing Grecian Windflower seeds, we’re happy to send you additional gardening tips. In the (unlikely) event that your Anemone blanda seeds do not germinate at all, we’ll give you a full refund, no questions asked.
We offer this variety on Etsy, eBay, and Amazon, as well!
