The plant typically grows in moist, sunny locations and thrives in wetland habitats such as bogs, marshes, and stream banks. Fox Sedge can reach heights of 1-3 feet and forms dense clumps of grass-like foliage. It produces distinctive seed heads or spikes that resemble fox tails. Carex vulpinoidea seeds can be sown in USDA hardiness zones 4-9, making it suitable for a wide range of climates.
