Dames Rocket, scientifically known as Hesperis matronalis, is a biennial or short-lived perennial plant. Also referred to as Sweet Rocket or Dame’s Violet, it belongs to the Brassicaceae family. This plant features showy, four-petaled flowers in hues of white, pink, or purple that bloom in spring or early summer. It reaches a mature height of 2-4 feet and has a bushy growth habit. Dames Rocket prefers full sun to partial shade and is adaptable to a variety of soil types. It is hardy in USDA zones 3-9. Hesperis matronalis seeds can be obtained for easy propagation.
